Our story
It all started with one question: “What’s pink salt?”
When we started The Farms, most people had never heard of pink Himalayan salt. They didn’t know what it was, where it came from, or why anyone would choose it over the plain white salt they’d used their whole lives.
So we went out and told people about it, one conversation at a time. We filled small pouches with salt and went from store to store, introducing ourselves to owners and managers and asking if they’d give it a spot up front where customers could see it. Some said yes and many said no, but we kept showing up. We also set up tasting tables, handed out samples at local events, and talked to anyone willing to listen.
We explained that our salt comes from the Khewra Salt Mine in the Salt Range of Punjab, one of the oldest and largest salt mines in the world, where it formed naturally over millions of years. We also explained why it’s different from ordinary table salt. Some days it felt like we were the only people in the room who cared about salt.
Then one day, someone called us back.
They had tried our sample, liked it, and gone home to read more about pink salt online. When they reached out, they wanted more, and it wasn’t long before they were ordering regularly.
That call showed us that people would keep buying once they actually tried the salt and understood it.
Where we are today
Those first pouches and store visits grew into something we’re proud of. Today our salt is sold through grocery stores, wholesalers, farmers markets, and local markets. It’s on the shelves of more than 35 stores across New Jersey and Philadelphia, reaches 400+ retail partners, and is available on Walmart Marketplace.
We’re still a family business, and we haven’t stopped educating people about pink salt. Every bag still comes from Khewra, and every order is handled by people who care about this salt and stand behind what we ship.

The Farms was founded by Anas Shaikh, a business consultant, certified AgriBusiness trainer, and FMCG/CPG specialist with 10+ years of experience across US and GCC markets. He drew on hands-on experience growing wheat, vegetables, and fruits on farmland and in his own home to launch The Farms, and today also leads the company’s consulting practice helping other CPG brands enter the US market.
The Farms is headquartered in Cypress, Texas, with wholesale distribution and retail operations focused on the US East Coast. There is no public storefront — all orders are placed through our website, by phone, or by email. Our products are sold across all 50 US states, on Walmart Marketplace, and in physical grocery stores throughout the East Coast.
