Our Story
Could anyone have ever thought that mint seeds received from Saudi Arabia as a gift would become an inspiration to grow organic plants in the backyard as a hobby, take this novel idea to the farms in the next phase, and subsequently transform it into a successful business venture? This is precisely what transpired when an idea sprouted out of the mint seeds, that within a matter of few years developed into a strong sapling, and is now being nourished and nurtured to grow into a sprawling tree.
The Farms is an emerging and potentially powerful brand that materialized with the cultivation of mint. The success of this experiment encouraged the modern farmers – a term we prefer to be associated with – to expand our forays and initiate the cultivation of homegrown tomatoes, papayas, and lemon trees. Our passion and interest in nature and gardening contributed towards the increase in our knowledge and expertise through practical learning. We do research, travel extensively embraces challenges that come our way, overcome difficulties, and continue to move forward with the single-minded approach to creating a niche in the organic industry. One of the biggest challenges we faced was depletion of the yield as we dispensed away with the use of chemical fertilizers and replaced them with natural fertilizers. This scenario necessitated an immense amount of patience and commitment to get through this difficult phase.
It did not take us long to convert this part-time activity into a full-time involvement as we started producing organic vegetables and fruits on a more systematic and larger scale. We developed a full-fledged garden where we grew a number of organic products, including naturally ripened bananas, coriander, sounf, corns, watermelons, melons, green onions, green chilies, turmeric, ginger, curry leaves, mehndi (Henna), paan and soya.
Our fondness for nutritious organic products received a tremendous boost when this idea became contagious as many around us also got involved in this healthy activity.
The demand for these organic products increased at a scale where customers purchased them as soon as these were harvested through online booking or sales in exhibitions. Unable to cope with the increasing demand, we took to sourcing these products. In order to ensure that the sourced products meet our fixed criteria, we do quality checks personally on a regular basis.
We have also introduced organic wheat and such is the encouraging response that we are now forced to procure organic wheat from other authentic sources. This product is particularly in demand by leading bakers, who use this as a raw material to produce a cake for diet conscious people.
Our most recent products to hit the market are the export quality hot water processed mangoes. Though not 100% organic due to certain restrictions, the response has nonetheless been overwhelming due to their unique taste, wonderful color and better ripening process.
Our next in line product is organic sugar and considering the extensive efforts that are underway, it will not be long before this product is available for our customers. We are confident that our customers will like and give a positive endorsement to organic sugar, just as they have given to our other organic products.
